Rohit Sharma arrived in Ranchi for the opening ODI against South Africa, but a short video capturing his playful moment with Shahbaz Nadeem stole the spotlight. In the clip, Rohit can be seen walking ahead as his friend approaches the terminal, with security staff not immediately recognising Nadeem. The former India captain turns, puts an arm around Nadeem, and lightheartedly tells the guards, "Arre bhai, ye toh hamara dost hai. Ye toh hamara dekhbhaal kara hai," before the duo share a warm hug and continue on their way. The moment quickly went viral, drawing cheers from fans who praised the cricketing camaraderie on display.
Rohit is in Ranchi for the first ODI of a three-match series against South Africa, set to begin on Sunday. The team will travel to Raipur and Visakhapatnam for the remaining fixtures. Behind the smiles, Rohit’s preparation has been serious; he trained intensely on Thursday, spending significant time in the nets and taking part in fielding drills as part of his build-up. At 38, Rohit remains in strong form, having registered a century and a fifty in the recent ODI series against Australia, including his 33rd ODI ton in Sydney.
