In Bengaluru, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar pushed back against BJP claims that he hid assets, saying he disclosed ownership of a Rolex watch in his affidavit and challenged critics to verify the record.
The controversy comes amid renewed chatter about a possible power-sharing rift between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar. Shivakumar traveled to Delhi on a private trip, he said, to attend a wedding and to oversee arrangements for a December 14 Congress rally at Ramlila Maidan; He stressed the trip had no political motive and that he was focused on party matters and the winter session.
At Bengaluru airport, he reiterated that he would meet with ministers to prepare for the Belagavi winter session, and accused sections of the media of fuelling baseless narratives. "Every day is good news for us," he said, dismissing sensational headlines as propaganda.
Observers note the Congress government is halfway through its term, with leadership questions lingering despite public displays of partnership. Shivakumar framed his affidavit as proof of transparency and emphasized that internal party processes would decide disagreements, not headlines.
