Investigators now believe a Dutch couple who visited a landfill site during a bird-watching excursion in Argentina could be the outbreak's origin, while Argentine officials point to a possible rodent contact in Ushuaia. The World Health Organization has linked eight suspected hantavirus cases to the vessel, with five confirmed.
In the United States, health authorities report monitoring in at least three states for passengers who were on the ship, though none have shown symptoms so far. Public health officials emphasize calm and continued vigilance as investigations continue.
