Stalin rallies DMK cadres for a door-to-door campaign, touts welfare schemes and Tamil Nadu growth as the party gears up for the 2026 elections.
Stalin addressed DMK workers at a regional conference in Thiruvannamalai, urging them to go door to door and highlight the party’s achievements so they can be turned into votes in the 2026 assembly polls. He spoke about the ongoing struggles under the BJP-led Union government and said the DMK has transformed those challenges into tangible gains for households, insisting the work must continue until the election results are announced. The chief minister stressed that the party must not rest until the 2026 outcome is sealed, with a focus on door-to-door outreach to showcase successes and social schemes.
He highlighted the flagship Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, which provides Rs 1000 every month to women heads of families. Stalin announced that the scheme was expanded to cover an additional 17 lakh women, bringing the total beneficiary count to over 1.30 crore across Tamil Nadu. He also noted the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) ongoing in the state and said the work is only half done.
Stalin pointed to a Reserve Bank of India study asserting Tamil Nadu recorded the highest gross state domestic product growth in the country, framing it as evidence of the government’s track record. In supporting voices from allied groups, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) chief Thol Thirumavalavan emphasized the INDIA bloc’s role in protecting Tamil Nadu and its language, challenging statements from Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the NDA’s prospects in the state and West Bengal.
The remarks come as Tamil Nadu’s political climate heats up ahead of the 2026 assembly elections, with the DMK-led coalition positioning itself as a defender of regional identity and social welfare against central government policies. The party’s youth wing has been active in mobilizing support and framing the election as a contest over delivery of welfare schemes and regional priorities.
