Britain's Kirsty Muir delivered a standout run but finished fourth, missing GB's first Olympic medal by a slim 0.41 points in the women's slopestyle.
Kirsty Muir delivered a standout run on the slopes in Italy, finishing fourth in the women's slopestyle and missing Great Britain's first medal of the 2026 Winter Olympics by a slim 0.41 points. The margin underscored how tight the competition was among the world’s best freestyle skiers, with judges awarding top scores for big spins, graceful landings, and technical difficulty. Although the podium eluded her this time, Muir’s performance kept GB hopeful that a breakthrough medal might come in upcoming events.
The field pushed hard as the course delivered demanding tricks and high-speed transitions, making every point count in the final rankings. Several athletes pushed the boundaries, which helped drive the overall scores higher and kept spectators on the edge of their seats throughout the final run.
For Britain, the result is a reminder that medal bids at the Winter Games are never guaranteed, even for athletes who land near-perfect runs. Muir’s near-podium finish, however, reinforces her status as a rising star in freestyle skiing and a key figure in GB’s Olympic lineup. As the Games continue, fans will be watching her upcoming slopestyle attempts with renewed optimism, hoping the next run finally puts GB on the podium.
