Modi: Countdown Begins for DMK Exit, NDA to Rule Tamil Nadu
PM Modi rallies in Tamil Nadu, pledging a double-engine NDA govt to spur development and fight corruption.
CHENNAI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi told a rally at Mathuranthakam near Chennai that the countdown to the DMK's exit has begun and that a BJP-led NDA government would partner with the Centre to speed up development and attract investments.
Sharing the stage with AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, AMMK general secretary T T V Dhinakaran, PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss, TMC president G K Vasan and other NDA allies, Modi said all alliance leaders were united to free Tamil Nadu from DMK misgovernance and transform it into a developed, secure, corruption-free state.
He spoke of a 'double engine government' where state development works hand in hand with the Centre. Modi invoked the legacies of M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa, praising their emphasis on women's safety and promising to carry forward that legacy.
He did not name Chief Minister M K Stalin in his speech but attacked the DMK for promising, yet delivering little; the DMK responded with charges of betrayal and highlighted pending approvals and funds.
