Weather officials say Delhi is under an IMD yellow alert as conditions feel colder than normal. Forecasters expect mainly clear skies later in the day but warn that dense fog could linger in pockets, reducing visibility and slowing traffic. Daytime highs are likely to hover around 16-18°C, a modest climb but nothing that will dramatically ease the chill.
Earlier this week, the minimum dipped to 5.8°C on Thursday, marking the third-lowest reading of the season. In the NCR, parts of Noida and Gurugram also reported a spell of light rain and sharp mist in the early hours as the system moved through the region. The weather department has warned of light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorm activity in parts of Haryana and adjoining Delhi on Friday morning, with rain expected at several locations in the capital such as Preet Vihar, ITO, India Gate, Akshardham and Safdarjung.
As the sun rose, residents focused on staying warm and planning for more cold days ahead. Travelers are urged to check forecasts before heading out, and city services reminded people to keep warm clothes handy and to watch for fog-heavy commutes. The mood is cautious but hopeful that a milder spell may ease the deep chill, even if a steady cold snap lingers for now.
