Telangana Braces for Cold Wave as 7 Districts Alerted
IMD warns of a cold wave across Telangana with seven districts on alert as sub-10°C nights persist and temperatures dip state-wide.
As the cold wave persists across Telangana, the India Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave alert for seven districts on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. The districts under the alert are Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy, where cold conditions are very likely to linger at isolated pockets.
In Hyderabad, the weather is expected to stay partly cloudy, with morning and night hours likely to see mist or hazy conditions. The forecast suggests minimum temperatures will remain below normal by about 2°C to 3°C over the next three to four days, while the day’s maximum hovers around 30°C and the night’s minimum near 13°C.
Data from Telangana Development Planning Society shows a deep chill across the state between December 8 and 9 morning: 20 districts recorded sub-10°C temperatures. The lowest observed was 6.1°C at Tiryani in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad. Other notable sub-10°C readings included 6.3°C in Bheempoor (Adilabad), 6.4°C in Jharasangam (Sangareddy), 6.9°C in Mominpet (Rangareddy), and 7.6°C in Ibrahimpatnam (Ranga Reddy). By contrast, 13 districts logged temperatures between 10°C and 13°C.
Meteorologists warn that the chill could deepen overnight in some pockets while easing slightly during the day, urging residents to bundle up, especially in the early mornings and late evenings. Officials also advised keeping an eye on official updates for any adjustments to the alert as conditions evolve.
