IndiGo to Run Flights Under New Pilot Duty Norms from Today, DGCA Orders
DGCA ends temporary pilot duty relaxations as IndiGo confirms an adequate pilot pool to keep flights stable under the new norms.
India's aviation regulator DGCA has ended its temporary relaxations on pilot flight-duty norms, with IndiGo stating it has an ample pilot pool to support operations as the new rules take effect from today.
The DGCA had granted exemptions until February 10 to help stabilize operations after disruptions in early December, but safety concerns about fatigue were stressed by pilot bodies.
IndiGo also noted that its domestic market share fell to 59.6 per cent in December, yet it maintained confidence in staffing amid the transition to stricter norms.
With the stricter norms now in force, airlines will adjust schedules and rostering to ensure safe operations, while passengers may see changes in flight availability.
The end of relaxations signals a shift toward standardised duty cycles, centered on fatigue management and safety.
