Counting for Assam Election Results 2026 is underway, and the spotlight is on the 3Gs—Gaurav Gogoi, Akhil Gogoi, and Lurinjyoti Gogoi—as they now trail from their seats at 11:30 am. The momentum appears to be shifting toward the BJP juggernaut led by Hitendra Nath Goswami in Jorhat as the results start to pour in. The trio were touted as the opposition’s potential brake on Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, but early trends suggest their influence in Upper Assam may be dwindling.
Akhil Gogoi, the Raijor Dal leader, is trailing from the Sibsagar constituency with 6,944 votes, while Kushal Dowari of the BJP leads that seat with 8,478 votes. In Jorhat, Gaurav Gogoi is behind with 18,618 votes as BJP’s Hitendra Nath Goswami leads with 27,903. Lurinjyoti Gogoi, founder of the Assam Jatiya Parishad, trails in Khowang with 18,672 votes as Chakradhar Gogoi of the BJP leads with 23,833.
The 3Gs were projected as a potential Achilles’ heel for the Sarma administration in Upper Assam, with hopes of galvanizing the Ahom community vote. Yet delimitation efforts and shifting loyalties within the community have complicated their path, and Akhil Gogoi’s Raijor Dal contested 13 seats, reflecting a broader contest over traditional bases.
