Indian drugmaker Sun Pharma to acquire Organon in an $11.75 billion all-cash deal, boosting its global footprint in women's health and biosimilars across 150 countries.
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd said it will acquire Organon & Co., a New Jersey-based company formed in 2021 as a spin-off from Merck (known as MSD outside the United States and Canada), in an all-cash deal valued at $11.75 billion.
The landmark acquisition will propel Sun Pharma into the top 25 global pharma companies and significantly bolster its presence in women’s health and biosimilars, expanding its global reach across 150 countries.
Organon, created from Merck’s spinoff, brings a diversified portfolio and a platform Sun Pharma plans to leverage for faster growth in high-demand areas. The transaction signals a strategic push by Sun Pharma to scale internationally, investing in higher-margin segments and expanding access to its therapies worldwide.
