Delhi CM Slams AAP, Congress: CJP Their 'B-Team' Amid Protests
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta lashes out at Rahul Gandhi & Arvind Kejriwal, calling CJP their 'B-Team' as anti-CEC protests lead to mass detentions and city chaos.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has vehemently accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal of attempting to destabilize the national capital by using the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) as their “B-Team” amid a widespread police crackdown on anti-Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) protests. Ms. Gupta asserted on Saturday (October 10, 2026) that Delhi would not be held hostage and criticized efforts to turn the city into a “battleground.”
Authorities have detained over 7,000 individuals, including top CJP leaders, Mr. Kejriwal, leaders from Left parties and Trinamool Congress, as well as activists and students. These detentions occurred as a planned CJP protest at Jantar Mantar, demanding CEC Gyanesh Kumar's resignation, was foiled.
The CJP has alleged that Mr. Kumar masterminded voter-list manipulation during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll and was involved in other irregularities concerning Form 6, used for voter registration.
In a post on X, Ms. Gupta stated that Mr. Gandhi and Mr.
Kejriwal, whom she described as "rejected by the people," were colluding with their “B-Team” to create chaos. She questioned their motives, asking,
Why are these leaders so hell-bent on venting frustration over their nonstop defeats on the public? What offence have residents of Delhi committed to be tormented by the chaos on the streets?
The Chief Minister firmly declared that her party would resolutely combat politics that spreads anarchy under the guise of democracy and challenges the public mandate. She specifically called out Mr. Kejriwal, accusing him of trying to disrupt Delhi's peace and security for his “political self-interest,” stating, “Mr.
Kejriwal, who worships anarchy and has bestowed upon himself the title of Delhi's owner, is attempting to disrupt the peace and security of Delhiites for his political self-interest.”
The city has seen stringent traffic curbs and heavy security deployment as the protests entered their second day, causing significant disruption to daily life. Ms. Gupta raised concerns about the impact on commuters, daily wagers, and patients, questioning whether political ambitions surpassed the livelihoods, safety, and peace of millions of Delhi families.
She linked the situation to the recent election results, noting that Delhi voted for development, leading to Narendra Modi's third consecutive term as Prime Minister. Ms. Gupta criticized parties steeped in “dynastic politics and opportunism” for being unable to accept this public support for Mr. Modi and the BJP.
In another X post, Ms. Gupta described the events on Delhi's streets as “extremely unfortunate,” blaming Congress, AAP, the Left, and CJP for “wreaking havoc.” She praised the Delhi Police and security forces for their patience and responsibility, stating they were provoked but managed to keep the situation under control.
She affirmed that the law would be enforced with absolute firmness.
Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra echoed this sentiment, calling the CJP's protest call a “complete flop.”", "city": "Delhi
