A shocking incident has unfolded in Delhi, where a software engineer, Vinay Gupta, tragically lost his life after being brutally assaulted by his wife's relatives. The incident, which occurred in Laxmi Park, stemmed from a dispute over a seemingly minor household chore: Vinay asking his wife, Rekha, to apply medicine to their child, who had developed blisters.
The argument escalated, and Rekha reportedly left their home, only to return with her two brothers, Raju and Vedprakash, and her sister-in-law, Poonam. Vinay's parents, Prem Chand and Renu Gupta, witnessed the horrific assault. His father recounted, "I went inside to get water, and when I came out, they started assaulting my son."
Vinay's distraught mother shared chilling details of the attack. She recalled her husband's pleas, saying, "My husband kept telling them not to hit our son and talk peacefully, but they did not listen at all. They pushed him to the floor and beat him brutally. They also pushed me." She further described the scene: "I just went to give them a glass of water. They had pinned down my boy. They threw him on the bed and grabbed him by the neck. They kicked and punched him in the stomach."
Desperate, Vinay's mother went to call the neighbours for help. By the time she returned, she tragically found her "boy" fatally injured. Vinay passed away on the way to the hospital. "I only had one child," the grieving mother lamented.
Police investigations revealed that Rekha allegedly switched off the CCTV cameras before the assault. Rekha, her brothers, and sister-in-law have since been arrested. A case has been registered at the Nihal Vihar police station under sections 103(1) (murder) and 3(5) (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities are currently examining the CCTV footage and recording statements from neighbours and family members to piece together the full sequence of events. Further investigation is ongoing.
