Claudia Winkleman Won't Be a Traitor: 'I'm Too Thick' for the Hit Show!
Ahead of Celebrity Traitors' return, host Claudia Winkleman reveals why she'd never join the star-studded cast. Find out her hilarious reason and who's in this season!
Claudia Winkleman, the charismatic host of the hit BBC show The Traitors, has openly admitted why she would never step into the Scottish castle as a contestant for the celebrity version. As Celebrity Traitors gears up for its highly anticipated return, Winkleman shared a surprisingly candid reason for avoiding the Faithful-or-Traitor game.
"I'm too thick," Winkleman confessed, laughing. "I mustn't play it in public. I must not, thank you so much.
I'm just being honest.
I could have come up with a schmoozier [answer] but no.
It's a privilege to play that game and to be at the round table, but I think I would just be too awful at it.” This frank admission comes as she prepares to welcome a new lineup of famous faces to the thrilling psychological game.
The new season promises another dose of suspense and strategy, with a stellar cast ready to deceive and deduce. Among the 21 celebrity contestants entering the historic castle are acclaimed actors Michael Sheen and Richard E Grant, supermodel Jerry Hall, TV presenter Maya Jama, and comedians Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, and James Acaster.
Music fans will recognize Little Mix's Leigh-Anne Pinnock and musician James Blunt, while The Last Of Us star Bella Ramsey adds to the diverse mix.
For those unfamiliar, The Traitors pits a group of contestants against each other. A select few are secretly designated "Traitors" and work to "murder" players at night, while the majority, known as "Faithfuls," must identify and banish the Traitors before they all fall victim. The show's popularity soared with its first celebrity spin-off, which saw comedian Alan Carr cleverly win as a Traitor.
Executive producer Sarah Fay expressed her delight at the show’s past success, describing the first series as feeling "a little bit like Monopoly money." She's optimistic about the upcoming season, aiming to keep the format fresh and compelling.
We’re always looking at ways to up the ante and make it feel like compelling viewing,
Fay stated, hinting at new twists and the dynamic interactions expected from the diverse cast.
Get ready to pick your side, Faithful or Traitor, as The Celebrity Traitors kicks off on Thursday, October 1, at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Winkleman might not be playing, but she'll certainly be there to guide us through every tense moment and dramatic betrayal.
