Ahmedabad: Bomb Threat Emails to 10 Schools Were Hoaxes, Say Police
Authorities evacuated 10 private Ahmedabad schools after bomb-threat emails; searches found no danger, police probing the cyber incident.
Ten private schools in Ahmedabad received bomb threat emails on Wednesday, prompting citywide security alerts. Police confirmed the threats were hoaxes after finding no suspicious objects. The identical emails warned that bomb attacks would be carried out at schools in the afternoon. Since the morning shift had already concluded when the messages were received, the affected schools declared a holiday for the afternoon shift as a precaution. Following the alert, police teams, bomb detection squads, dog squads, and anti-sabotage units rushed to the campuses and conducted thorough checks.
Nothing suspicious was found at any location, police said, and cybercrime teams are investigating the source of the emails and identifying those behind the threats. The messages reportedly claimed blasts would occur at 1:11 pm. Affected institutions include Zydus School of Excellence, Maharaja Agrasen Vidhyalaya, Udgam School for Children, Zebar School for Children, Nirman School in Vastrapur, DAV International School, and others. In the wake of the alert, several schools declared holidays for the afternoon shift and tightened entry protocols.
The incident underscores ongoing concerns about school safety amid cyber threats, with investigators continuing to trace the origin of the emails and review security practices.
