Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has addressed recent reports of alleged Chinese incursions in the Taksing area of the Upper Subansiri district, firmly denying any such incidents. The Chief Minister stated on Friday that the Indian Army, which guards the border, has been effectively maintaining the territory, leaving no room to believe in reports of Chinese incursions.
Despite this denial, CM Khandu emphasized the importance of addressing concerns raised by the Nah Welfare Society (NWS), a community-based organization living in the Taksing Circle. He confirmed that representatives from the NWS have been invited to discuss their claims and help ascertain the actual situation on the ground. The government has pledged to undertake a thorough ground-level assessment to establish the facts surrounding the reported incidents.
The NWS had previously alleged that members of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) crossed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and occupied areas near Yaja and Togo villages within the Taksing Circle. These allegations had earlier been dismissed by the Indian Army as "not factual." Chief Minister Khandu's commitment to a ground verification signals a proactive approach to ensure local community voices are heard, even while maintaining confidence in the Army's border management. The focus remains on maintaining peace and verifying facts in this sensitive border region.
