In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through the local community, a Punjab Police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was found dead on Sunday morning near Amritsar. The officer, identified as ASI Joga Singh, was discovered with a gunshot injury near the Fatehgarh Churian-Majithia road.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural) Suhail Mir Qasim, the police were alerted to the situation early Sunday morning on May 24. A police team, led by the Station House Officer of Majithia police station, rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the information. Forensic teams were also called in to meticulously examine the crime scene and collect evidence that could lead to a breakthrough in the case.
Preliminary reports suggest that the officer, who served as a traffic cop, may have been shot while he was en route to his duty. The body has since been shifted to the Civil Hospital for further procedures. While the exact motive behind the shooting remains unclear, the police are not leaving any stone unturned in their quest for justice.
SSP Qasim, who personally visited the spot where the body was found, mentioned that the investigation is exploring multiple possibilities. 'We are exploring all angles, including personal enmity, road rage, or any other possible angle,' he stated. The local authorities are working diligently to determine the exact circumstances that led to this unfortunate loss of life, and further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
