Reliance's Ira Bindra is named among the world's top CHROs, as the company unveils a 1 GW AI data centre in Andhra Pradesh, signaling a bold tech expansion.
Reliance Industries Ltd's human resources chief Ira Bindra has been named among the world's top CHROs, ranking 28th on the Leaders40 Top Chief Human Resources Officers list. Reliance is the only Indian firm on the list, and Bindra is the first Indian woman executive from an Indian company to feature. The recognition comes as Bindra leads Reliance's people strategy for a 360,000-strong workforce spanning energy, retail, telecommunications, media, and green technologies.
Bindra's corporate journey spans more than two decades across Fortune 100 firms and high-growth enterprises, including global HR leadership roles at Medtronic before joining Reliance as President - People & Talent. Her work centers on tying talent, culture, and business transformation to drive sustainable performance.
In another bold move, Reliance announced a 1 gigawatt AI-focused data centre in Andhra Pradesh, as part of the state's push to become a hub for data-centre capacity. The project aligns with Google's prior investment in the region and comes with a 6 GW solar power project and an integrated food park. Financial details were not disclosed by the Chief Minister when presenting the pact.
Together, these developments underscore Reliance's dual strategy: investing in world-class leadership to steer organizational change, and expanding critical infrastructure to power India's growing appetite for AI and data analytics. If realised, the Andhra Pradesh project would strengthen the state’s data-centre ecosystem and reinforce Reliance's role in India's digital economy.
