Rani Kapur moves HC to cancel RK Family Trust
Rani Kapur asks Delhi High Court to nullify the RK Family Trust, alleging fraud and misrepresentation to divert assets from her late son's estate.
Rani Kapur, the mother of late businessman Sunjay Kapur, has filed a suit before the Delhi High Court seeking cancellation of the RK Family Trust. She alleges that Priya Kapur, Sunjay's wife, fraudulently constituted the trust to divert assets.
According to the plea, Rani Kapur contends that her late son was either manipulated into participating in the alleged arrangement or allowed himself to be used as a conduit for it. She claims she was led to believe that the RK Family Trust was simply a renamed or modified version of an earlier trust arrangement under which she remained the sole beneficiary, and that it was only after Sunjay Kapur's death that she learned the trust excluded her and directed benefits to other family members.
Through the suit, she seeks cancellation of the RK Family Trust and restoration of her estate, contending that the transactions were carried out through misrepresentation, undue influence, and without her informed consent. The court is yet to take up the matter. The case underscores ongoing tensions within the family regarding asset distribution and control over family wealth.
