Set in a future shaped by a devastating war, Equilibrium (the movie) explores the consequences of suppressing human emotions.
If you are thinking.. is this a sequel to Matrix?.. then you are wrong.. but not completely. The movie was released in 2003, three years after the first Matrix. It has some resemblance but altogether in a different dimension. In the beginning of the 21st century the third world war has taken place and then the human race decided to suppress all human emotion which they believed was the root cause to everything.
The human race now lives in an emotionless world by taking a timely dose of some drug to suppress their emotions and anyone found guilty of expressing emotion is banished for life.. tough to believe eh!. A world without any emotion!.. no love & hate.. what would then be our point of existence??. John Preston (Christian Bale) is a Cleric of the highest order who's job is to eradicate the any resistance to this emotionless civilization. He one day start realizing himself that he has a heart too and wants to discover his wild side. He then joins the resistance and rest follows.
The movie is an eye opener and will make you value your emotions and the world of freedom that we live in. If you enjoy Si-Fi Action then this one hell of a movie to watch. The action sequences are simply mind blowing.. I would say as good as The Matrix. This movie is definitely worth a watch.. even if you are not a action or Si-Fi movie fan... and I assure you wont be disappointed.
