Tragic Bus Crash in Markapuram District: Dozens Hurt and Burned

A private bus operated by Harikrishna Travels was traveling from Nirmal in Telangana to Nellore when it collided with a tipper near Rayavaram in Markapuram district, Andhra Pradesh, and burst into flames. The crash sent shockwaves across the state as rescue teams battled the blaze and pulled several passengers from the wreckage.
Officials said at least 20 passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, and authorities warned the death toll could rise as the fire continued to rage in the mangled hull.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed anguish over the tragedy and ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the causes, while directing officials to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured. Leaders from several parties called for swift relief measures and stricter road safety enforcement.
Jagan Mohan Reddy, former chief minister and opposition leader, offered condolences and urged the government to provide immediate financial assistance to families and to speed up medical care. Ministers Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy also condoled with victims and instructed authorities to expedite rescue operations.
Rescue and relief teams, including police, fire services and medical staff, worked through the night to manage the scene, assist the injured and trace victims’ families. Investigators will look into possible factors behind the crash and fire to prevent such tragedies in the future.
