In related developments, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tendered his resignation to the Governor, who asked him to continue as the head of the caretaker government. For the BJP Legislature party leader election, J P Nadda and Naib Singh Saini have been appointed as observer and co-observer, respectively, with the election likely to be held on May 10. The NDA’s electoral tally remains strong, winning 102 of 126 Assembly seats, with BJP securing 82 and its allies Bodoland People’s Front and Asom Gana Parishad each winning 10 seats. The ceremony’s scale signals a display of political continuity and preparedness ahead of the next phase of governance.
