71st Ivor Novello nominations spotlight Olivia Dean, Lily Allen, Lola Young and more as London prepares for a night of songwriting honours.
The nominations for the 71st Ivor Novello Awards have been announced in London, with Olivia Dean leading the charge for top songwriting honours. Dean is in the running for two awards: Best Album for The Art of Loving and Most Performed Work.
Lola Young marks her fourth Ivor nomination, continuing a rapid rise after a breakout year. Lily Allen secures her third nomination, including a nod in the Best Album category for West End Girl, her first album in seven years. Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine also receives her fourth nomination.
Other notable contenders include CMAT, Wolf Alice, Myles Smith and Little Simz. The Best Album shortlist features Jim Legxacy – Black British Music (Jim Legxacy and Joe Stanley), CMAT – Euro Country, Olivia Dean – The Art of Loving, Wolf Alice – The Clearing, and Lily Allen – West End Girl.
Roberto Neri, chief executive of The Ivors Academy, said the nominations reflect the strength, diversity and global influence of British and Irish songwriting. The Ivors have long been a prestige marker in music, and this year’s ceremony is set to celebrate songs and screen compositions in London on May 21.
With West End Girl marking Allen’s return after seven years, and Dean's dual nominations signaling a strong year for female songwriters, the Ivors continue to spotlight a mix of chart-toppers and emerging voices.
