Bengaluru has been shaken by a tragic incident where a 22-year-old woman from Sikkim was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner following a dispute. The victim, identified as Ati Hangma Subba, worked as a receptionist at a salon, while the accused, 26-year-old Purba Lepcha from Darjeeling, was employed as a waiter.
The horrific incident unfolded on Sunday morning at their rented accommodation in Bengaluru's Doddakanahalli area. Police reported that an argument erupted between the couple, reportedly stemming from Lepcha's suspicion that Subba was communicating with another man. During the heated altercation, Lepcha allegedly attacked Subba with a kitchen knife, inflicting fatal injuries to her neck.
According to Whitefield Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Saidulu Adavath, the woman suffered severe blood loss and succumbed to her injuries before any medical assistance could be provided. After committing the crime, Lepcha attempted to flee the scene. However, due to swift action and information received, police were able to trace and apprehend him shortly after the incident.
A case has been registered at Bellandur Police Station, and investigations are currently underway to establish the complete sequence of events leading to this tragedy. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. This incident casts a somber shadow, highlighting the importance of addressing relationship conflicts constructively.
