GT posted 168 for seven, with Sai Sudharsan scoring 61 and Washington Sundar contributing a fluent 50, while Rabada and Holder shared nine SRH wickets to seal a fifth consecutive victory for the IPL 2022 champions. SRH were bowled out for 86 in 14.5 overs in reply.
Sudharsan’s fearless 61 off 44 balls laid a solid foundation for GT, complemented by Sundar’s 50 from 33 deliveries, as the surface demanded patience and discipline from the batters. Sudharsan struck five fours and two sixes, while Sundar added seven fours and a six, stitching crucial late runs that gave GT a defendable total.
On the chase, GT’s bowlers set the tone from the powerplay, with Rabada returning 3/28 and Holder 3/20, dismantling SRH’s top and middle order. The pair, along with the rest of the attack, kept the pressure high and left SRH stranded, never getting close to the target.
After the match, Gil l commented on the team’s approach, saying that if they can bowl well and stay consistent, they’ll be in every game. He lauded Sudharsan’s start and Washintons Sundar’s finishing touch, adding that the team’s balance underlined their versatility. GT will now prepare for a big test against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Saturday.
