New Delhi — A comprehensive forecast by NITI Aayog outlines a bold path for India's higher education ecosystem. The study, Internationalisation of Higher Education in India: Prospects, Potential, and Policy Recommendations, argues that inbound international student enrollments could reach about 100,000 by 2030. In more ambitious scenarios, inbound numbers could climb to 155,000 by 2030, 360,000 by 2035, and nearly 790,000 by 2047 if reforms are implemented across regulation, finance, branding, and campus experiences. The report frames internationalisation not as optional but as essential for building globally competitive human capital.
