Jammu and Kashmir Police have successfully dismantled a significant cross-border drug and arms smuggling network, leading to the arrest of four individuals in the Jammu region. The operation resulted in the seizure of a high-end Beretta pistol, multiple magazines, live ammunition rounds, and a substantial cache of narcotics. The breakthrough came after two suspects, identified as Rahul Kumar and Ajay Kumar, were apprehended at a checkpoint.
During their initial questioning, police discovered heroin and a firearm in their possession. This initial arrest quickly unraveled a larger conspiracy, exposing the involvement of additional individuals and shedding light on the intricate methods used by the syndicate.
Investigations revealed that the arrested individuals had strong connections with handlers operating from Pakistan.
The smugglers were reportedly receiving consignments of both drugs and weapons via air-dropped methods, including the use of drones, which is a growing concern in border areas. One specific instance mentioned the seizure of 1 kg of narcotics along with the pistol from the initial arrests.
Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of the law, and a comprehensive investigation is currently underway to uncover the full extent of the network and identify all involved parties. This bust marks a crucial step in combating cross-border criminal activities that pose a threat to regional security and public safety.
