Lakshya Sen Defeats Li Shifeng To Storm Into All England Open Semi-Finals

Lakshya Sen won over the Chinese, Li Shifeng to enter the semi-finals of the All England Open Badminton Championships in Birmingham. The Indian shuttler played the world number six in straight sets - 21-13, 21-16 in 45 minutes at the Utilita Arena Birmingham in a calm and aggressive style.

The India shuttler was dominating the rallies with the very first interaction. Attacking strokes and placing Li under the pressure and the way Lakshya was moving around the court made sure that he was in control of the play pace. It was not long before the first match went his way after he established a comfortable cushion and continued to keep and sustain the lead with repeated attacking of the opponent.

The defensive skill of Lakshya was also very important. Lakshya will either compete against Canada Victor Lai or Japan Koki Watanabe in the semi- final. In the meantime, the 24-year-old has previously reached the title at the historic tournament. In 2022, he took second place losing the final to Viktor Axelsen of Denmark. He was beaten in the semi-finals by Jonatan Christie of Indonesia in 2024.
