A chartered flight pilot is accused of sexually assaulting a 26-year-old cabin crew member in Bengaluru; the case moved from Begumpet to Halasuru police for investigation.
A chartered flight pilot has been booked for allegedly sexually assaulting a 26-year-old cabin crew member at a Bengaluru hotel during a layover, police confirmed on Sunday. The incident occurred on November 18, and the survivor filed her complaint after returning to Hyderabad, prompting a Zero FIR to be registered at Begumpet Police Station. Begumpet police officials said the case has been transferred to Halasuru Police Station for investigation.
The flight had originated in Hyderabad on a business trip, with stops at Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh and Chennai before arriving in Bengaluru for the layover. The survivor’s statement alleges the assault took place in a hotel room where the crew were staying. Begumpet Inspector P. Saidulu said the pilot allegedly violated the crew member in the hotel room.
Following the complaint, Hyderabad police registered the case under the appropriate BNS provisions and initiated the transfer to Bengaluru authorities, with Bengaluru police now taking over the probe. The investigation is ongoing, with Halasuru Police handling inquiries.
The case has raised questions about safety during layovers and the need for stringent conduct rules in the aviation industry. Authorities say they will pursue all leads and ensure the survivor's privacy is protected.
