A senior officer described the security architecture as rings around the venue, with extra police and paramilitary forces deployed to maintain order. Entry to the stadium and designated zones will be strictly controlled and passes will be required. Anti-sabotage checks, frisking points and round-the-clock CCTV surveillance are part of the plan, with quick reaction teams and emergency units on standby.
On the traffic front, the Delhi Traffic police outlined a tight plan: three labelled parking areas for authorized vehicles, including P1 near Vikram Nagar, and a Rajghat Powerhouse parking lot for unlabeled vehicles. The measures aim to keep access smooth and prevent a repeat of the chaos seen in Kolkata during the tour's opening leg.
This Delhi stop follows smoother visits in Hyderabad and Mumbai, and comes after Kolkata sparked protests over getting a clear glimpse of Messi. Delhi officials hope to replicate the successful crowd handling and safety seen in the other cities while ensuring fans can witness the grand finale in a safe, controlled environment.
Beyond the spectacle, organisers and security officials are coordinating with Messi's team on a meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as reported in the tour's Delhi itinerary. The event also features a ceremonial interaction with fans and a potential jersey moment, underscoring the tour's mix of sport, diplomacy and branding.
