In Cyberabad, Hyderabad, police say a 19-year-old man and a minor boy have been arrested for abducting and raping a 16-year-old girl from a minority community on the city’s outskirts, with another minor involved still at large.
The case began when the girl’s mother filed a missing-person report on Tuesday after her daughter did not return home from school the previous day. Investigators traced the girl’s movements and learned she had met a 16-year-old boy from the Talabkatta area and later traveled to the Madina area before the alleged crime unfolded.
Officials say that on the night of the incident, the accused, along with two others from the Talabkatta area, took the girl in an auto to Chengicherla on the city’s outskirts. They allegedly forced her to consume alcohol and assaulted her at knife point for two days. The girl was located by police on Wednesday morning after tracing her mobile phone, and the 19-year-old and the minor who lured her were arrested. A second minor who participated in the crime remains absconding, and police are pursuing him.
The Narsingi police filed charges including abduction, gang rape of a minor, and criminal intimidation based on the evidence collected at the scene. Investigators said they are continuing efforts to apprehend the third suspect and are reviewing all digital and physical evidence to build a comprehensive case. The incident underscores ongoing concerns about safeguarding minors and ensuring swift, transparent action in such cases.
