New details show the Delhi bombing suspect stayed in a rented room in Nuh, Haryana, days before the attack, as investigators trace a money network.
Fresh details are emerging about Umar Un Nabi, the doctor central to the Delhi metro bombing plot. Investigators say he rented a room in Haryana’s Nuh and stayed there for about 10 days before the attack in Delhi. He reportedly left the Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad after his close associate Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie was arrested, and then sought cover in Nuh, with the help of a nursing staff member who helped him find a room in a local colony. He largely kept to his room, venturing out only after dark to eat from roadside eateries while carrying two mobile phones.
Authorities say investigators are tracing a hawala network operating in the Mewat region used to move money to fund the plot. The operation prompted nightlong raids across Nuh, Faridabad and other locations, including searches of university quarters and the homes of doctors linked to Umar and Muzammil. The owner of the rented house has been detained for questioning. The investigation has linked the Delhi attack to a broader, two-year plan that involved medical professionals in its execution.
Further developments came soon after the blast at the Red Fort metro station, prompting police and national agencies to widen the probe. Officials described a 'white collar terror group' network and said Umar and his associates used multiple mobile phones and a possible hawala channel to finance the operation. Investigators say the case is evolving, with more raids and interviews expected as they map the network behind the attack and identify other individuals connected to the plot.
