Uttar Pradesh Unveils ₹500-Crore Smart Village Initiative

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a significant initiative to transform rural areas into 'smart villages.' The state government is investing ₹500 crore to develop 100 villages, aiming to enhance digital infrastructure, promote clean energy, and improve healthcare services.

Digital Infrastructure

A key component of this initiative is the establishment of 'Vishwakarma complexes' in villages. These complexes will serve as centralized hubs where rural artisans and laborers can showcase their skills and offer services, thereby fostering a self-reliant rural economy. The complexes are designed to be modern facilities, similar to urban malls, providing all necessary arrangements under one roof for rural workers.

Clean Energy

The 'smart villages' project also emphasizes the importance of clean energy. The state government plans to implement solar energy projects to provide sustainable power solutions to rural areas. This initiative aligns with Uttar Pradesh's broader strategy to increase its power generation capacity and promote renewable energy sources.

Healthcare Facilities

Improving healthcare services is another priority. The government has inaugurated several healthcare facilities, including the Advanced Diabetes Centre, Tele ICU, and Saloni Heart Centre, with a total investment of ₹1,147 crore. These facilities aim to provide better medical care to the residents of Uttar Pradesh.

In addition to the 'smart villages' initiative, CM Yogi Adityanath has announced progress towards the 'One District, One Medical College' initiative. This program aims to establish medical colleges in various districts, including upcoming institutions in Ballia and Balrampur, to enhance medical education and healthcare services across the state.
