Martha Stewart's Blunt Take on Meghan Markle's 'Homemaking Guru' Shift!
Domestic icon Martha Stewart gives a frank assessment of Meghan Markle's Netflix lifestyle show. Find out what she really thinks about the Duchess's career transition!
Domestic doyenne Martha Stewart has offered a candid and direct opinion on Meghan Markle's foray into the lifestyle guru space, following the Duchess of Sussex's Netflix series "With Love, Meghan" last year. Stewart, known for her no-nonsense approach, didn't hold back when asked about the inevitable comparisons between the two.
In a recent interview with People magazine, conducted at her expansive 156-acre farm in Bedford, New York, the 85-year-old entrepreneur recounted a brief encounter with Markle at a dinner party in California. Stewart noted that Markle had just returned from the UK, having reunited with King Charles and Queen Camilla. "I didn't talk to her really more than to say a couple words, but I know she was talking about it," Stewart shared, regarding Markle's royal visit.
When pressed for her thoughts on Markle stepping into a similar domain, Stewart's response was remarkably frank. "If you're an actress, it's hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show. It doesn't sort of follow. So go from there," she stated, leaving little room for ambiguity.
Meghan Markle's Netflix series, "With Love, Meghan," launched last year with the aim to "reimagine the genre of lifestyle programming." According to Netflix's official description, the show blends "practical how-tos and candid conversation with friends, new and old." It features Meghan sharing personal tips and tricks, focusing on "playfulness over perfection" and demonstrating how easy it can be to "create beauty, even in the unexpected." Guests like Chrissy Teigen and Mindy Kaling made appearances, alongside a cameo from Prince Harry. The series aired for two seasons in 2025, including a holiday special, despite facing criticism from various quarters. Stewart's recent comments only add another layer to the public's perception of the Duchess's lifestyle venture.
