Three killed in serial collision on Kalaburagi-Afzalpur highway
Three people die and three others are seriously injured as two buses and a jeep collide near Hadagil Haruti Cross on the Kalaburagi-Afzalpur National Highway.
Three people were killed and three others were seriously injured in a serial road accident on the Kalaburagi-Afzalpur National Highway on Thursday evening. The crash happened near Hadagil Haruti Cross when a jeep carrying a Telloni village couple collided head-on with an oncoming bus. Moments later, another bus struck the first bus from behind, setting off a chain collision that brought traffic to a halt.
The victims identified are Sulochana, 70, and Chandrakant, 82, along with the jeep driver Mittesab, 35. Those riding in the jeep, including the elderly couple, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police said the jeep was travelling at high speed, and the driver died on the spot while the elderly couple died en route to the hospital. City Police Commissioner Sharanappa S. Dhage visited the accident site to supervise relief work and assist in the investigation.
Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing, with authorities directing traffic control and gathering statements to determine whether speed, road conditions, or other factors contributed to the incident.
