In Bengaluru, investigators have cracked a daylight ATM cash-refill van robbery, with three men arrested in connection to the ₹7.11 crore heist. Among the detainees are a police constable from Govindarajanagar police station, a former CMS Info System Limited employee, and the in-charge of the cash refill vehicle. Authorities say ₹5.76 crore of the looted money has already been recovered.
Investigators indicated an insider link may have played a role. The constable and the former CMS employee were detained for questioning after mobile tower data and call records showed they communicated repeatedly during the days surrounding the crime. The ex-employee had recently resigned from CMS and is said to have had close ties with the accused constable, feeding into the theory of an inside job.
A crucial lead came from the getaway vehicle, which was found abandoned near Tirupati in the Chittoor district, helping to stitch together the sequence of events and identify other potential accomplices. The case is still developing as police widen the net and pursue further leads, with investigators urging anyone with information to come forward.
The investigation underscores the risk of insider involvement in cash management operations and the ongoing challenge of securing cash-handling logistics across private contractors and law enforcement.
