Leaders pay tribute to Ambedkar on death anniversary, vow to uphold justice
On Ambedkar's death anniversary, top leaders gathered at Parliament to pay tributes and pledge justice, equality, and constitutional values.
The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) marked the death anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with a national seminar, as Social Justice Minister Virendra Kumar paid obeisance to the leader and recalled the contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose 150th birth anniversary celebrations recently concluded. President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the floral tributes at Ambedkar's statue inside the Parliament complex, with Ramdas Athawale also in attendance. Kishore Makwana, the NCSC chairperson, highlighted the historical ties between Ambedkar and Patel and noted Patel's defense of untouchables during times of social unrest, a point Ambedkar had praised. On the morning of the event, Prime Minister Modi posted a message on X commemorating Mahaparinirvan Diwas, stating that Ambedkar's visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and constitutionalism continue to guide the nation toward a developed India. The Prime Minister also said Ambedkar’s ideals light the path as the country works toward a Viksit Bharat. The Social Justice Minister further appealed to the public to pledge to build a developed India by upholding social harmony, spreading education, and protecting constitutional rights, following Ambedkar’s path. These tributes underscore the ongoing relevance of Ambedkar’s legacy in policy and national discourse.
