U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Monday that Iran had requested a meeting set to take place in Doha on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, a claim swiftly denied by Tehran.

President Trump shared the news on his Truth Social platform, stating, "IRAN HAS REQUESTED A MEETING. IT WILL TAKE PLACE TOMORROW IN DOHA!" While he did not specify the participants, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt later confirmed that U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner are scheduled to fly to Doha for "high-level meetings this week."

However, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei offered a different narrative. On Monday, he acknowledged that a delegation of Iranian experts would travel to Doha this week, but staunchly denied any plans for a direct sit-down with the U.S. side. Baqaei clarified, "We have not yet entered the stage of negotiating a final agreement," and emphasized that "over the coming days, we will not have any negotiation meetings with the U.S. side at any level."
