Delhi's Kailash Hills case took a chilling turn as 23-year-old Rahul Meena was named the main accused in a rape and murder that shook the city. Investigators combed the fourth-floor apartment in Amar Colony as forensics teams joined the probe and the timeline of events began to emerge.
Meena was reportedly addicted to online betting and card games like teen Patti, having lost more than ₹7 lakh in recent months. The debt from these losses left him borrowing money to keep the habit going, and he has been described as having violent tendencies and a history of aggressive conduct in his native village.
Hours before arriving in Delhi to carry out the crime, he allegedly raped another woman in Rajasthan’s Alwar. CCTV footage showed him moving through Kailash Hills around 6:30 am and leaving roughly 40 minutes later, entering the apartment at 6:39 am.
Police reports describe the assault on the victim inside her room after she refused to give him money. It is said he pressed her throat, used a charger wire to strangle her, and then attacked her with further violence, though the detailed weapon description was not fully disclosed here.
Meena had previously worked as a house help, a detail that has added to the shocking narrative of the case. An AIIMS autopsy later described the brutality in the Delhi Kailash Hills rape-murder case as severe, noting injuries such as a fractured neck and a broken nose.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, with more forensic work and statements expected as prosecutors prepare the case for court.
