KA Sengottaiyan Joins TVK, Boost for Vijay’s Political Bet
Former AIADMK veteran KA Sengottaiyan joins TVK led by actor Vijay, taking a key organisational post ahead of Tamil Nadu polls.
In a surprising development ahead of Tamil Nadu elections, former AIADMK stalwart K.A. Sengottaiyan joined Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) led by actor Vijay on Thursday, November 27, 2025.
He resigned as Gobichettipalayam MLA on Wednesday, November 26, after being expelled from AIADMK last month, and arrived at Vijay's Panaiyur office near Chennai with a group of supporters.
Sengottaiyan was appointed organisation secretary for four districts — Coimbatore, Erode, Tiruppur and the Nilgiris — signaling a frontline role in building the party's booth-level presence.
A veteran of AIADMK for around 50 years and a minister under MGR, Jayalalithaa and Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Sengottaiyan's move marks the first time a high-profile leader from the old guard has aligned with TVK. He had joined the MGR Mandram at the age of 20 and became one of the youngest MLAs in AIADMK.
Vijay welcomed him in a video message, praising his experience and field work and suggesting Sengottaiyan could help organise meetings and enroll party workers. Political observers say the recruitment could provide a pre-poll boost for TVK ahead of Tamil Nadu's election season.
