The allegations suggest that Farage may have failed to disclose benefits and gifts, including financial support linked to convicted criminal George Cottrell.
Conservative minister Kemi Badenoch has weighed in, stating emphatically that Farage, like all other politicians, must adhere to declaration rules and be transparent with the public. "I have to make declarations day in, day out of people who are giving donations and gifts or whatever so that people can see where the money is coming from. Why does Nigel Farage want an exception?" Badenoch questioned. She further criticised Farage's approach, arguing that his reluctance to answer questions properly is perpetuating the scandal.
The situation escalated following reports of a testy exchange between Farage and a Sky News reporter, where questions regarding the financial support from Cottrell were raised. Labour Party chair Anna Turley emphasised that Farage "needs to own his self-inflicted scandal and prove he's not been secretly breaking the rules." Critics maintain that a lack of direct answers from Farage is only fueling public and political concern, demanding greater accountability and openness from the Reform UK leader.
