Ghaziabad Dhaba Altercation Ends in Double Stabbing
Two men die and a third is injured after a late-night altercation over service at a Ghaziabad dhaba; police detain staff as CCTV footage is reviewed.
Ghaziabad, late Friday night: A heated argument over service at Vaishno Dhaba in Khoda spiraled into a fatal stabbing, leaving two men dead and a third injured. The incident unfolded around 10 pm as customers and staff clashed after a delay in serving food.
The police have identified the deceased as Shri Pal, 25, and Satyam Kumar, 26, both residents of Nehru Vihar in Khoda. A fourth person, Anurag Kumar, is also reported to be injured and undergoing treatment at a hospital in Delhi. All those involved were taken to a hospital after the altercation, where Pal and Satyam Kumar succumbed during treatment.
Authorities say the staff and the dhaba's owner were detained for questioning as investigators review CCTV footage from the area. Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhishek Srivastava said the initial lead points to a verbal altercation over the issue of food, after which the staff and others attacked the men with knives. The police plan to lodge an FIR at Khoda police station and continue the probe to identify those involved and establish the exact trigger of the attack.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Nimish Patil stressed that security arrangements were being tightened around the eatery, and senior officers visited the spot to oversee the investigation. The area around the dhaba has been secured as investigators piece together the sequence of events that led to the double killing.
