🤯 Big news in AI! Researchers claim they've found a way to peek inside advanced AI models and extract their "thought processes" before they give an answer. This is reigniting the huge debate around "distillation" – essentially, one AI learning from another. Some open-source models, especially from certain Chinese developers, seem to produce strikingly similar "reasoning" to these extracted traces from top US models. Is it fair game for accelerating AI development, or outright copying? Silicon Valley leaders are divided, with some defending open access while others accuse competitors of intellectual property theft. Plus, there's a serious security risk: this method could also expose sensitive user data!
