Can you believe this? Google Maps in the US just renamed Lake Ontario to 'Lake America'! Apparently, it's all thanks to a presidential executive order, part of some ongoing trade spats.

Remember when the Gulf of Mexico became the 'Gulf of America' for US users? It's happening again, but this time for one of our Great Lakes. What's even crazier is Google's policy: if you're in the US, you see 'Lake America'; in Canada, it's still 'Lake Ontario'; and elsewhere, you see both.

This feels like a bizarre attempt to rewrite geography because of political disagreements. Are we just going to start changing names of natural landmarks based on who's feuding with whom? Wild times for cartography and international relations!
