Gilla Band Returns! New Single 'Giraffe' and Huge 2026-2027 Tour Announced

Dublin’s own Gilla Band is finally back, breaking a four-year silence with their brand-new track, "Giraffe." For fans of the influential group formerly known as Girl Band, this release is a major moment. Known for pushing the boundaries of guitar music, the band hasn't lost their experimental edge, delivering a song filled with their signature distortion and atonal sounds.

The track features singer Dara Kiely’s intense, yelled vocals, which serve as a window into a complex internal monologue. Kiely shared that the first sections of the song represent a "scattered and sometimes lonely" headspace where it’s difficult to articulate thoughts or feel loved. However, the song ends on a warmer note, referencing a classic "Irish Mammy" moment where a mother chases her child with a hairbrush to ensure they wear a jacket. It's a sweet, albeit chaotic, nod to the reality of being cared for.

Physical music collectors will be happy to know that "Giraffe" is being released as a 7” picture disc through Rough Trade. Pre-orders are already rolling in for the official release this Friday, May 29. It marks their first new music since their 2022 album, 'Most Normal'.

But the new music is only half the story. Gilla Band has mapped out a massive string of tour dates stretching into the future. They’ll be hitting North America in late 2026, stopping in cities like Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Chicago, and Toronto. After that, they head to Europe and the UK in early 2027, with final stops in Bristol, London, Manchester, and Glasgow. It’s a long wait for the live shows, but if "Giraffe" is any indication, the energy will be well worth it.
