In Surat, a 40‑year‑old auto‑rickshaw driver bludgeoned his 18‑year‑old daughter 🔗 to death with a pressure cooker because she “delayed cooking”. These are not isolated tragedies. They are a brutal reminder that in parts of India, a daughter’s life is still seen as a bargaining chip in a deadly honour economy.
Women Assaulting Men
It’s not just men who prey on women. In Mumbai, a 40‑year‑old female teacher was arrested 🔗 for repeatedly sexually assaulting her 16‑year‑old male student. In her bail plea, she shockingly claimed the boy “loved” her.
