In India, how can we forget the Rahul Gandhi or Nirmala Sitharaman memes that flooded the internet and continue to flow in social media. These memes brought to attention not only the major budget issues but also urged people to look into other aspects of the political world.

Memes serve as quick commentaries on ideology, amplifying complicated or boring concepts into a simple message. But this is a double-edged sword. Memes have the potential to escape context, spreading misinformation under the guise of wit.

Memes can be accessed by anyone, anywhere, at any time with a smartphone. In a world where traditional media is controlled and censored, memes have become a democratized form of expression for young people all over the world.

Beyond politics, memes have brought movement to many social issues especially mental health. In today’s media, there has been a big step taken in creating more mental health awareness and memes have played a significant role in this. While social media does have content on these issues, a lot of people tend to scroll past these, but memes are brief, witty and attention grabbing, ensuring that it has your full attention.
