Noah Kahan tops UK charts again as Michael Jackson resurgence boosts legacy
Noah Kahan clinches his second UK number one while Michael Jackson's catalog surges in the wake of a new biopic.
US singer Noah Kahan has secured his second UK number one album with The Great Divide. The Vermont singer-songwriter’s latest release is also the week’s best-seller in independent UK record shops and tops the Official Vinyl Albums Chart. His 2023 offering, Stick Season, also reached number one and has been named one of the biggest albums of 2024 and 2025.
The top five on the albums chart is rounded out by Foo Fighters with Your Favorite Toy in second place, and Olivia Dean’s The Art Of Loving at number three. Michael Jackson’s Michael – Songs From The Motion Picture and Number Ones complete the top five. Jackson’s Thriller, last released in 1982, has re-entered the top 10 for the first time in 17 years at number eight, while 1987’s Bad returns to the top 40 for the first time since 2014 at 13. Paul Weller’s Weller At The BBC (Vol 2) earns him a 30th solo top 40, at 19.
This week’s singles chart shows Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s Rein Me In at number one for the ninth non-consecutive week, swapping places with Olivia Rodrigo’s Drop Dead, now second. Justin Bieber’s Beauty And A Beat, featuring Nicki Minaj, remains third following his viral Coachella set. Tame Impala’s Dracula sits at number four, while Alex Warren’s Fever Dream rounds out the top five, up one place. Jackson, who died in 2009, also returns to the UK singles chart with three tracks in the top 40: Billie Jean at 13, Beat It at 22, and Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough at 23.
Kahan has three tracks from The Great Divide in the top 20: Doors at 12, the title track at 17, and Porch Light in 20th place.
