London-raised sensation beabadoobee is officially back, bringing an electrifying new sound and major collaborations to the forefront with the announcement of her upcoming album, Pylon. Set to release on September 18 via Dirty Hit/Interscope, this highly anticipated record promises a shift towards a sharper, more distorted rock sound, delving into themes of anxiety and the mundane experiences of her mid-20s.
Fans got their first taste of Pylon's raw energy with the release of the lead single, "Sun Has Set." The track features kinetic, propulsive guitar riffs and live drums, showcasing beabadoobee (born Beatrice Laus) singing with a palpable rage, a notable departure from her signature cool-toned vocals. Lines like, "When I say we'll never be friends / I mean we'll never pretend / Fuck that you can never run back to me now," highlight this new, fierce artistic direction. The accompanying music video, directed by longtime collaborator Jake Erland, perfectly complements the song's riotous energy, depicting Laus causing mayhem in various settings from a motel to a golden-lit field.
