BJP Slams Congress: 'Hypocrisy' on Women's Empowerment Exposed!

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a strong attack on the Congress on Saturday, September 5, 2026, accusing it of “hypocrisy” regarding women's empowerment. The BJP highlighted the low representation of women in Congress-ruled state governments, despite the party's calls for greater gender equality.

During a press conference, BJP spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi pointed out that the Congress is currently in power in four states but collectively has only three women ministers. Specifically, he noted that Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka have no women ministers at all, while Kerala has two and Telangana, which initially had two, now has just one after a removal.

Mr. Trivedi questioned the Congress's commitment, especially after Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had previously written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, advocating for women's reservation to be implemented without delay for delimitation.

Trivedi argued that the Congress's own state governments do not reflect this asserted commitment to women's representation.

He further contrasted the Congress's record with the Narendra Modi government's initiatives aimed at empowering women.

These initiatives include the Jan Dhan accounts, the Ujjwala LPG connection scheme, extensive toilet construction, and granting permanent commissions for women in the armed forces.

In addition to the issue of women's representation, the BJP spokesperson also criticized the Congress regarding alleged tampering of question papers in a Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examination. Terming this incident “paper loot,” he accused opposition parties of selectively raising examination-related issues while remaining silent on the Jharkhand case.
